Morning Skincare Routine

As much as I love make-up, I don't neglect skincare obviously. Skincare is the most important I would say when it comes to beauty regime. If you don't take good care of your skin, which is the base of your make-up, no matter how expensive your make-up is, it won't look as good as if you have a very good base.

When I was in junior high school and senior high school, I have a very bad skin, well not like very-very bad, but compare to now, it's way worse than my skin now. I don't have big pimples all over my face (thankfully), but I do have small bumps all over my forehead and it's quite noticeable (I admit, it's pretty noticeable) and I have dull and a tad bit dark skin, but not that bronze-kind-of-dark but dull-dirty-kind-of-dark. So yeah, once I understand the importance of skincare and taking good care of it, also have interest in make-up, I'm starting my journey to find the perfect skincare routine for myself.

I used to not really care about the brand I'm using for skincare or going in-depth for it, but now I really do. It's really important to choose a good brand as in accordance with your budget of course.

Do take notice that I have combination/oily skin and quite sensitive, the skincare routine I mention here might not suitable for everyone out there obviously, but it's nice to receive some insight.

I will tell about my morning skincare routine first, then later in another post, I will discuss about my night skincare routine.

  • Philosophy Purity Made Simple One Step Cleanser
  • SK-II Facial Treatment Essence
  • Clinique All About Eyes Serum
  • Shiseido Ibuki Protective Moisturizer
  • Clarisonic Mia 2

First of all, the cleanser to be used with Clarisonic. I can't use any cleanser to use with my Clarisonic, for example those cleanser with small beads in it. I've been using Philosophy Purity Made Simple One Step Cleanser for a while now, this is my hmm second or third bottle I believe and I'm liking it. I've tried several products of Philosophy, like their Jar of Hope which is a moisturiser, their Philosophy Purity Made Simple Foaming 3-in-1 Cleansing Gel, and Miracle Worker - Miraculous Anti-Aging Retinoid Pads. I've always loved their products, which I might discuss more about them in separate post.

My thoughts on Philosophy Purity Made Simple One Step Cleanser are that it's very gentle, no strong fragrant, not causing me breakout, not leaving my skin dry and tight. Also, it's good to use it with my Clarisonic. Well, one thing I don't really like is that it's not foaming so it makes me like it's not clean enough yet. However, I'm using Neutrogena Foam Cleanser for Brightening this time to try something new.

Second, the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence which is my holy grail obviously. At first, I was quite hesitate to buy this considering the high price, but I've been stressing over my skin condition, so I decided to try this product. I have to say, price doesn't lie honey. This product literally change my whole life, if I were to exaggerate a little bit. It makes your face look bright and shiny on the morning when you wake up and it does make your skin much better.

Despite of the steep price, the product lasts pretty long though. I'm using it with my sister and I have the medium size or the second large usually, and it lasts around 6-12 months. So it's pretty good though for me. One thing that I don't like is its smell, it has funky smell but later on you get used to it. Also, the price of course but oh well.

Third, the Clinique All Eyes Serum and it's a roll-on product. Love the cold feeling it gives me when I roll the steel(?) over my eyebag. It's not necessary depuff my eyebag every day like magic, however, it does wonder when I watch a sad movie at night then go to sleep, I make sure I apply this product generously and the next morning I won't have swollen eyes. Love it.

Fourth, the Shiseido Ibuki Protective Moisturizer with SPF 15. I wish this product has bigger SPF instead of just 15 but that's fine as well, I can always use sunblock anyway and I use Shiseido sunblock as well. I love this moisturizer, it keeps my oil at bay throughout the day, well by noon of course I got oily but it's better than before when I'm still using other moisturizer, also it has this kind of pearly sheen on it, it brightens up my complexion and I love it.

Lastly, Clarisonic Mia 2 which I really like this product, I really feel like it cleans my face really well and thoroughly. However, I only use this on morning since I don't really like the idea of having the headbrush cleaning my dirty face that has foundation, concealer and other stuffs.

Overall, I'm satisfied with my morning skincare routine, still figuring out the perfect cleanser for me but I can always go back to Philosophy though of course. I'm not the type of person who likes to experiment with skincare and I do love experimenting with makeup, but skincare? Nu-uh.

I hope it can be a bit of a help to you all, to get some insight on what products good and whatnot but oh well. Will post my night skincare routine later!
